Founder of La Dehesa de los Monteros (Málaga, Spain)

This university lecturer has become a true lady of Iberian ham with the dream of bringing together ambitions for a denomination of origin in the mountains of Ronda.

Chelo Gámez started out as a lecturer at the University of Málaga in 1968, where she taught Macroeconomics, and spent 39 years of her life in education. In 2005 she left the University for personal reasons, and in 2008 she began a new phase of her life as the founder of La Dehesa de los Monteros.

An enthusiast of the Genal Valley and the Ronda mountains, her Iberian dream led to the creation of 100% Iberian acorn-fed products. The brand is now well consolidated in Spain, and operates in more than 10 countries: Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland. Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore and Taiwan. Ecuador and Venezuela.

In 2014 she joined the Finca Algaba project to retrieve the Iberian ham variety Rubio Dorada, producing the Raza&Oro brand. Limited-series ecological production.
