Andrea González

Head of wine tourism at Bodega Monasterio de Corias (Cangas del Narcea, Asturias, Spain)

Born and bred close to the monastery, her life had to revolve around it. She studied History, but went back to Cangas to work at the winery there.

Raised between the town of Cangas del Narcea and the Corias Monastery, Asturias' primary winemaking area, her future lay in the land and in wine. Also because her father was a winemaker, and he and her mother formed part of the Cangas environmentalist group “Cuelmu Ecoloxista Pesicu”, which staged fairs focusing on the ethnography and folklore of southwest Asturias. Andrea studied History at the University of Salamanca, but in 2013 she went back home to work at Bodegas Monasterio de Corias, “when my education in the world of wine began”.

She now runs the winery, and acts as "cicerone" guide to all visitors, showing them the vines and the produce. In the future, Andrea hopes to "gain land for vineyards and continue to produce Cangas wines, Atlantic wines, heroic wines and mountain wines”.
