Rocío García Alonso

Livestock merchant at Finca La Huérfana (Salamanca, Spain)

This well-qualified lady from Salamanca lady went back to the family farm "because the countryside draws you in". She left her corporate life behind her in London.

Rocío García Alonso is an agricultural expert and agricultural engineer, and also holds a master's degree in Business Administration and Management. She has professional experience in labs and in conducting field analyses, and has also worked in the pharmaceutical sector and process enhancement, "but I was constantly thinking about going back home to the countryside at the weekends", where she eventually settled when she heard her father was retiring and was about to sell off his livestock. By that time she was engaged in a promising career in London.

She came back and began making changes at the farm, and gradually, after almost seven years, "I now have the farm I always wanted to have". García Alonso tirelessly combines her work with further study, to be a sommelier in this case, and is also involved with other wool-related projects. Not only that, but she runs the @fincalahuerfana account on Twitter, "which discusses farm work and management".
