Daughter and granddaughter of cooks, Macarena García today runs the restaurant Casa Nuevo in the valley that makes up the village of Pillarno.
Macarena García García is the fourth generation of cooks of the restaurant Casa Nuevo -also called Casa Pepón- in Castrillón, in the valley that makes up the village of Pillarno. It was José Nuevo and Josefa Rodríguez (Pepón and Lela) who founded the restaurant in 1951, although it was grandmother Maruja, the eldest of seven siblings, who first took charge of the kitchen.
With the generational handover, great-aunt Herminia, who has been a member of the Guisanderas club since 2016, took over the kitchen. Since 2021, it is Macarena García who guides the business. The kitchen is still under the orders of Herminia and Macarena's mother, María Jesús.
